Northern Ireland Staycation, Giant's Causeway. View of the coast summer 2021

The year of the staycation

With the uncertainty and ever changing rules of overseas travel this year, I am looking to explore more of the beautiful UK. From long walks, wild swims and camping excursions, check out my highlights so far!

Scafell Pike, Lake District

Tackling this during the UK heat wave was an added challenge, but with lots of water and snacks, step-by-step, I made it to the summit.

Not forgetting, aching calves for days!

Win Hill, Peak District

Finding a slightly lesser known walk is how I came across Win Hill. It did not disappoint. Once at the trigg summit, you are treated to beautiful views of Ladybower Reservoir on one side, and the undulating horizon of the Peaks on the other.

Duddon Valley, Cumbria

A Country File 10km discovery, a tranquil and secluded slice of the Lake District. Heading off the beaten track though hills and fields, meeting lots of wildlife along the way. And no better way to complete the walk than a dip in the River Duddon, wetsuits in hand!

Giant's Causeway Trail

A short hop over the Irish Sea, I spent a few days exploring the East Coast of Northern Island. Although a tourist spot, we couldn't avoid the beauty of the Giant's Causeway and we treated ourselves to a National Trust guided tour to learn about the science of the rock formations, and of course, the myths and legends of the giant!
